The 2018 Ford F-250 comes as a facelifted mid-cycle model of the Super Duty pickup which was not so long ago released in its second-generation version equipped with efficient, and upgraded for improved towing power, gasoline- and diesel-powered engines. The model basically continues the design language of the 2016 model but it offers up a few novelties, such as new wheels, the stiffer yet at the same time lighter frame and re-tuned suspension. All these updates combined together make for a heck of a heavy duty pickup.
Exterior and Interior
At the front, the 2018 Ford F-250 features the block-lettering “”Super Duty” banging sprawled across the hood right above the grille. The bumper comes in chrome finish in addition to body-colored end caps. Likewise, the truck sports a sizeable chrome piece on the tailgate.
The truck’s grille is revised as compared to the previous model and offers a unique take on the Ford’s three-bar design. Moreover, the LED headlights and fog lights are now standard, which was not the case before. What’s more, the truck now sits on brand-new bespoke 22-inch chrome wheel.
The upgrades also include a few handy features such as lane-keeping assist, the 360-degree camera system, and Ford’s all-new Pro Trailer Backup Assist, power-deployable running boards, remote tailgate release, and the class-exclusive panoramic glass roof.
Furthermore, the model can be purchased in a range of body styles, ranging from the regular cab work trucks to top-of-the-line four-door crew cab models with interiors packed with luxury items.
As for the cabin, the updates come down to the new dashboard covered in upscale soft-touch materials. Also, the cabin now comes with the new SYNC 3 infotainment system software as standard, offering the benefits of enhanced voice recognition, so the occupants can now speak more naturally into the system.
Powertrain
Under the hood, the 2018 Ford F-250 is fitted with an updated 6.2-liter gasoline V-8 engine that produces 385 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of peak torque. Optionally, you can purchase the powerful diesel 6.7-liter V-8, upgraded with a new GT37 turbocharger to bring its output up to an impressive 440 horsepower and 860 pound-feet of torque.
Towing capacity with either engine remains excellent, topping out at 15,900 pounds with the gasoline V-8 and 16,600 pounds with the diesel engine. Coupled to the engine is a six-speed automatic transmission featuring manual shifting capabilities the American manufacturer dubbed SelectShift, including a tow/haul mode, or a sport mode.
