We can confirm that 2020 BMW X1 is planned and almost finished a new generation of the well-known small compact crossover SUV for next year. Since the last version was showed in 2016, as the second generation of the model, the manufacturer had a hard job to improve the design of the model, along with the changed cabin equipment and a new engine under the hood.

Exterior

2020 BMW X1 side

We truly hope that German manufacturer has decided to change the design of the 2020 BMW X1 in order to make it closer to the competition. Even though it was an attractive cute small crossover, its appearance was a little boring for the market full of the futuristic crossovers and sedans. The model had covered front end, which proves possible changes in design. It should be softener and more rounded, with redesigned lights. The car should be more compact and redesigned in details. However, the shape of the car is the same.

Interior

Since 2020 BMW X1 is still in test phase, the cabin was not finished. That is why is hard to say something about possible changes in there. We were able to see the redesigned dashboard, with a larger touchscreen on the top. It points at an improved infotainment system, too. However, it is not known if the manufacturer will change the design and appearance of the cabin, as Honda CR-V has done.

Engine

There is an interesting change in the engine of 2020 BMW X1. The manufacturer has decided to change what we expected and that is the new hybrid engine that will be under the hood of the car. It would not be such a surprise; the previous model had a version for China with a plug-in hybrid engine. On the other hand, Toyota RAV4 already has an electric combination, so German automaker should offer something similar to that. However, nobody actually confirmed the type of the engine in that case. Why it would not be a plug-in hybrid combination that they used on test driving? According to Motorauthority magazine, it was 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 engine placed on the front end with 10.7-kWh electric battery on the rear end. This combination could be driven 37 miles without charging. Good enough for this car range.

2020 BMW X1 Release Date and Price

The final version of 2020 BMW X1 should be on the market before the end of 2019. According to photos and information we have, there are many more things to be done before we see what the manufacturer has done. The price should not be much higher than on the previous model. It started at $33,000 last time, so the new price should be in the same price range.
