2020 Volvo XC90 Polestar should be the first SUV that will come with this electric engine under the hood. Let us remind that the first model that had Polestar performance system was a sporty S60 sedan and this engine was used to improve performances and speed of the car, but driven by the fully electric engine. It was a true revolution in the car industry, after the Tesla cars, since no one manufacturer has produced cars driven on the fully electric powertrain. That happened in July, and the manufacturer immediately started with designing of the models that could adopt this type of powertrain.

Exterior
The design of 2020 Volvo XC90 Polestar actually should not be much changed in the future. According to first photos from the factory, the only change is bright blue color and maybe differences in details. We know that Volvo has always been close to the highest models in the class, like Audi Q7, Acura MDX, Infiniti QX60 or Mercedes-Benz GLE class. It remains the same in the future. However, there is the unique shape of the front end, with a recognizable line across the gridded grille and long chassis with the slightly rounded rear end.
Interior
There is no information about the cabin inside of 2020 Volvo XC90 Polestar, but according to all, we know there should not be many changes in design and equipment. It should be a comfortable, roomy and very elegant cabin with wide dashboard and touchscreen in the middle.
Engine
There is no clear information which engine will be base for 2020 Volvo XC90 Polestar. The engine that XC90 currently use is a plug-in hybrid T8 model that produces 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. Currently, the base for the Polestar electric engine model is the 2.0-liter supercharged Drive-E engine that produces 315 horsepower of strength. It is used on S60 and V60 Polestar sedans made in Volvo. However, the chief operating officer Niels Moller told for Autocar that the new model could be stronger, and has even 350 horsepower of strength. It is obvious that SUV should have the stronger engine and the new version could fulfill those expectations. That also means that currently used petrol unit could be a base for the future Polestar electric engine. That is the only information we have so far, so we should be patient for more information.
2020 Volvo XC90 Polestar Release Date and Price
One is for sure – when the first Polestar electric engine was used in sedans that have made a path for the future electric engines in Volvo. It is for sure that 2020 Volvo XC90 Polestar will be one of those experimental models which will open a door for the future electric SUVs. However, be prepared for the price of higher than $50,000, since the new improved model should cost more than the last one.
