The 2016 Nissan Titan fullsize pickup truck comes as an overhauled model of the Titan featuring a high-strength frame which supports an all-new body including an updated powertrain featuring the 5.0-liter Cummins V8 turbodiesel. The model is offered as both the regular Titan and the more heavy-duty oriented Titan XD, which will have impressive towing and hauling capabilities. Among a host of upgrades are Nissan’s Around View Monitor system, plus an in-bed, removable storage system, and a cabin with expanded storage spots and ergonomic controls.
Exterior and Interior
The 2016 Nissan Titan offers a brand new look as compared to the outgoing pickup with
only the trademark grille and side mirrors retaining any semblance to the predecessor. The tall fenders at the front and rear give the truck a bold, wide stance, while the huge front fascia of the Titan XD wears a chrome mesh grille with the “TITAN” embossed across the top adding to the overall no-nonsense styling.
The side vents above the front tires introduce a touch of class and at the same time they act as functional heat extractors. The optional 17-, 18-, and 20-inch wheels are available with redesigned spoke patterns. The side running boards extend past the cab and allow an easy step up into the bed. Around back, new taillights add extra visual appeal while the tailgate gets a small spoiler lip and a stylish accent crease along its mid section.
Inside the cabin, wood accents complement the steering wheel, dashboard, and door panels, while upscale French-stitched leather covers the rest of the cabin. Two-tone leather seats with perforated and quilted seat bottoms offer heating and cooling functions. The dashboard features driver-friendly controls, while the center console features a 15-inch laptop while still offering cup holders for front and rear passengers.
Optional features include a new off-road screen, while a 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate system provides quality sound. To cap it off, Nissan’s “Zero Gravity” front seats offering plenty of rear legroom are also available to keep the occupants snug and comfortable.
Powertrain
The 2016 Nissan Titan is fitted with the reliable 5.0-liter Cummins V-8 turbodiesel. Delivering 310 horsepower at 3,200 rpm and 555 pound-feet of torque, the engine can tow more than 12,000 pounds. The engine comes paired with a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission with manual shift controls. The Titan is available in both two- and four-wheel drive with an optional electronic locking rear differential.
